Mix-iT is a compact, versatile control panel for all Blackmagic Design ATEM switchers. It features 31 illuminated broadcast quality buttons, a fader and 4 rotary buttons, to effortlessly control these great switchers. All input buttons and both the program and preview bus can be mapped to suiting your personal needs. Besides that, the direct control of ATEMs built-in MediaPlayers is one of the unique Mix-iT features.
Mix-iT controls all important functions of the ATEM switcher. Detailed settings that are prepared with the Blackmagic design ATEM software on PC or Mac can be used.
Mix-iT can connect directly to the ATEM switcher, or to your Ethernet network with a computer that runs the ATEM software. The unit is powered through Power-over-Ethernet or with the supplied 7.5V DC adapter if PoE is not available.
Version 2 of the Mix-iT firmware adds support for Macro playback and Hyperdeck Control.
Macros let you automate a sequence of switcher actions that can be recalled with the press of a single button.
Blackmagic Designs Hyperdeck can be controlled either as a recorder or as a player with the player control rotary and button on the Mix-iT. The v2.0 firmware is compatible with all previous Mix-iTs.
It all began in the autumn of 2012 when Peter Hazenberg and Rob Linders discovered by chance that they were both entertaining the idea of developing a controller for Blackmagic Design Production switchers. The two men were approaching it from their own areas of expertise and experience and both were keen to find a solution that would fill the gap left by Blackmagic Design.
Many brainstorming sessions and semi-manufactured products later, they produced their first working prototype in the summer of 2013 and decided to solicit feedback at the IBC in Amsterdam. True to form, with a zero budget, they found a place in one of the halls where they could demonstrate Mix-iT on request.
The response exceeded expectations and was very encouraging. The new control panel even attracted international interest and several Blackmagic Design representatives made it clear that they were impressed by Mix-iT.
In other words, there was only one possible conclusion: it was something that needed to be pursued!
A round of visits to those who had shown an interest resulted in the development of a well-thought-out product that meets the specific needs of the market.
Since the development in 2013 more than a 1.000 Mix-iTs have been shipped around the world.
